Ministries

From University of Toronto Chinese Christian Fellowship

Image:Xministry.jpg Serving the Lord is extremely rewarding. When Christians serve, they not only experience God for themselves but also allows others to experience God through them! Participating and serving in a ministry doesn't require much: a little faith, and the desire to touch others with the love of Jesus is all you need.

Discover your gifts. Serve. Give back to the CCF family. Whether you're into music, sports, arts, or meeting new people, there's definitely a place for you to explore and develop your God given gifts and abilities. Keep an eye out for our Ministry Fair in September!

Choir

Joining choir is a way to bring glory to God and to give out a special message to the rest of the CCFers. The vision of the choir is to worship God who is source of our talents, and to build friendships with one another. We hope to perform at UTCCF large groups and on special occasions like the Coffee House. May all of us sing with passion and joy as we bring our gifts together to form a picture that God has intended, for us to sing and live in “harmony” with each other.

Female Mentorship

Over the years, female members of UTCCF have come and go. From our (speaking as a female myself) first time in UTCCF to our last time in the fellowship, we have joined the large group, made acquaintances and good friends, have had discussions, took part in the events and passed by. Sometimes, we ask ourselves this question: How do I benefit from the relationships I've made in the fellowship?

This year, we are kick starting a new ministry with the focus of seeking out opportunities for female members of UTCCF who interested to be a part of a mentorship group. The plan is to facilitate the process of getting a mentor and mentoring. So how do we get it going?

We are planning on throwing a "mixer" in the beginning of the academic year of 2009-2010 for you, females of UTCCF, to meet and greet one another; also with the intention for you to know the leaders who might be your prospective mentor and get some ideas from you of what fits you best.

Through all these, we pray and sincerely hope that this ministry will be able to enhance your spiritual walk with God in every way. The ministry would like to be of help to you in connecting with older UTCCF female members who might be able to guide you to walking closely with God in your university life; connecting horizontally with your mentor and connecting vertically with God.

Hospitality

We are the friendly faces that greet all members with a warm welcome. All you need is a smile and a heart to befriend others and you are qualified for a spot in this ministry. Our job is to get to know YOU !!! But why? Simply because you are interesting and we all want you to feel like you are a part of UTCCF. So don't be shy because we are all brothers and sisters in the same family, God's family. You are always welcomed in UTCCF.

Outreach

When Jesus said "love your neighbour as yourself"...did that actually mean anything to you? If it did, good! If it didn't, even better!

Let us learn and live together as we get broken by what breaks God's heart and actually live as the "body of Christ" being His arms and feet that reach out to the lost, the broken, the trapped, the hurt, and the sinful. Let us break those lies that society has taught us and actually BE THERE as loving someone means actually being a part of their lives. The good news is GOOD news and as Jesus said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.' I keep using the words 'let us' because it is important to know we're not alone and neither should anyone else be ;)

If you're interested and want to join, "All you need is a smile and a heart to befriend others and you are qualified for a spot in this ministry."

Prayer

Starting from this semester I would like to bring Prayer Ministry and our team deeper in to scripture in order to have a sharper understanding how we ought and are encouraged to pray; what pleases God and what does not please Him. What better to approach learning how to pray than to be modeled by scriptural characters' encounters with the Lord, especially Jesus Himself. I feel that we are ready and is compelled to see us dig deeper.

Plan:

  • Every alternating Thursday mornings, we will be praying and studying and sharing about different accounts of prayer in the bible (Mostly in the Old Testament and the Lord's Prayer)
  • The other will be more focusing on simply diving into prayer and sharing about our lives

Sports

This year, our vision in Sports Ministry is to:

  • Build lasting friendships and stronger community.
  • Have fun away from studying as God wants us to have fun as well.
  • Keeping body healthy and active as it is a temple of God.
  • Showing Christ-like characteristics to others on and off the court as a form of witnessing, not only to others on campus, but also to each other.
  • Apply our beliefs into our actions.
  • Provide environment for learning valuable lessons in life through sports.

This year we have many exciting events, including intramurals, sports, and socials. If you are interested in getting involved, contact Amanda.

Weekly Devotionals

This year, we have decided to continue our weekly devotionals which was started by one of our brothers in CCF two years ago. We trust that the devotionals have been words of encouragement, hope and reminders of God's attributes, at different periods of our lives.

That said, we always welcome participation from all members of CCF. Devotionals may be in the forms of a personal testimony, your personal sharing regarding your spiritual walk with God, thoughts which you think will help other brothers and sisters in Christ in their walk with God...there is never a "last but not least"; for the list goes on! If you are interested (even slight interest will do!) in writing a devotional, please do talk to Tuck or Tsuey. They don't bite!
